Messy Church

Messy Church is a way of being church for families and others. It is Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration. We’d love you to be part of our family fun and worship experience to celebrate with us and enjoy the following activities:

WHEN:

Messy Church meets monthly on the second Saturday of the month.
Our next gathering is on Saturday, 12 November, 4-6pm.

Join us at St David’s Uniting Church, Coopers Plains to hear our guest speaker Rev Jenny Busch, who will share her thoughts on sustaining a spirituality of hope in the face of sickness and death.

Jenny is Uniting Church Chaplain at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, a member of the Uniting Church Diakonia and of the Order of Jacob’s Well, a group of ecumenical Christian communities rekindling enthusiasm for the Kingdom of God by walking in the footsteps of Christ the Healer.

A fellowship tea will follow in the Garden Room at the Neighbourhood Centre at 5:30pm.

Christmas services:

Christmas Carols with free BBQ & children’s activities

  • Sunday, 15 December at 5:00pm

Christmas Eve Service

  • Tuesday, 24 December at 7:00pm

Christmas Day Service

  • Wednesday, 25 December at 7:30am

Summer Services:

  • During the months of December & January there will be only the one Sunday service at 8:30am
  • On Sunday 2 February we will return to our two services of 8:00am & 9:30am

We invite you, your family and friends to gather with us to celebrate Christmas at St David's Uniting Church.

Creative Kids Holiday Program – December 2019

Need help keeping the kids occupied these school holidays?

St David’s Uniting Church is running a 3-day School Holiday Program for children aged 7-12 years.

RAW art instructors will lead the kids through many art projects. It’s a great chance for children to have fun and be creative.

SPACES ARE FULL. REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED!

When: 17-19 December 2019

Time: 8:30am to 3:30pm

Location: The Garden Room, St David’s Neighbourhood Centre,
68 Orange Grove Rd, Coopers Plains (Enter via Rookwood Ave)

Activities include:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Clay Sculpture
  • Print making
  • Leather work
  • Beading
  • Games

Sunday Special Series – Cees Sliedrecht, 27th October 2019, 5pm

Join us at St David’s Uniting Church, Coopers Plains to hear our guest speaker Brisbane artist /">Cees Sliedrecht presenting an illustrated version of earth’s beginnings and Christ’s life on earth  and discussing his inspiration  and method. Cees is well known for his excellent drawing skills and uses watercolour, graphite and ink in his work which was recently featured in “Journey”magazine.

A fellowship tea will follow in the Garden Room at the Neighbourhood Centre at 6pm.

Join us at St David’s Uniting Church, Coopers Plains to hear our guest speaker Lauren Hutton (BPsych Sci, LLB(Hons), GDLP, GDPA – lawyer, chaplain and psychologist) talk about her journey.

About Lauren:

Lauren is currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology at the Australian Catholic University after 3 years with Hatzis Lawyers, working as Youth Relationships Manager at World Vision, and at present as  Chaplain at the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries

Lauren was a member of the Girls Brigade and Sunday School at St David’s as a young girl.

A fellowship tea will follow in the Garden Room at the Neighbourhood Centre at 5pm.

JOIN US FOR THE SECOND IN OUR SUNDAY SPECIAL SERIES

Theme: A tribute to our veterans

Speakers: Hosts & veterans Kathy Pearce and Peter Weymouth will lead proceedings and introduce our guest speaker, Revd Charles Veseley.

Bio: Charles deployed as a front line chaplain to Timor-Leste and Afghanistan in 2007 & 2009 and is now Senior Chaplain to the 1st div. Australian Army in Brisbane where he advises on religious, pastoral, cultural and ethical matters.

When: 28 April 2019

Time: 4pm

Food: Fun & a Fellowship Tea (Anzac biscuits guaranteed) will follow in the Garden Room at the Neighbourhood Centre at 5pm.
